Thanks for the Memories Kareem Abdul Jabbar Commemorative Face Stick, circa 1989! What an awesome time capsule gift for the Kareem aficionado.
This was a promotional item from the now defunct Seattle SuperSonics (thanks, Howard Schultz... ya dweeb)! It was given to Sonics fans as a salute to Kareem for his last game at Key Arena.
Unfortunately, having sat in a desk drawer for the last 31 years, it has some stains on the back and a crease near the top of Kareem’s noggin. The popsicle-like stick also has a few blemishes. Might’ve been the victim of an errant beer during rowdy applause for that last sweet sky hook! Nonetheless, a super cool blast from the past with retro advertisements on the flip side, the SuperSonics logo, and the classy slogan, “Thanks for the Memories... Kareem.” It probably should’ve more accurately read, “Thanks for being a Sonic killer and slaying our playoff hopes and dreams.”
