    Description

This Stirling engine, a unique dual alpha cam drive design was conceived and built in the late 1990s for NASA as a power system for High Altitude Long Duration Balloon Missions. It was designed to provide 500We at 3.500 mPA (500 psi) Helium . It was successfully run a number of times using a small test heater, generating 168We. Testing was concluded before an adequate heater or further improvements were made. The engine has been carefully stored for over 20 years and is now available to a new owner who would appreciate this unique work of engineering and its careful construction. A copy of the original NASA report (NASA Goddard report number 09052447) will be included as well as other reference materials and original contemporaneous documents to better understand the conception and design of this singular engine.
    Engine
was designed and built by New Machine Company of Kirkland WA.
The complete engine with generator is assembled, ready for shipment. It also includes parts of the test setup, including radiator, water pumps and some tubing, some high pressure tubing. I believe we also have the electronic motor controller (will have to find it).
NO HEATER IS SUPPLIED, you will have to fabricate one.
Please contact me if you would like a quote for crating and shipping the engine in multiple boxes.
