    Description

    Cain Industries/Cleaver Brooks Exhaust Heat Exchanger/ Feedwater Preheater, Used  Excellent Condition.
    2013 Model
    In use 3-4 years until Boiler was taken out of service and mothballed. Well maintained. Purchased both Boiler and Economizer. Customer wanted it but could not make roof modifications. Local pick-up optional. Buyer responsible for freight (approx. 1,745 lbs.)
    This unit has been inspected by Boiler Inspection Services, and full report is available upon request.
    This economizer came off the following unit:
    Cleaver Brooks CBLE Model CB-700-400-150 - Packaged Firetube 4 pass Steam Boiler, 150 psig design pressure, having a nominal rated capacity of 400 HP (13,800 lbs/hr of dry saturated steam from and at 212°F).

    This
    confirms
    our
    visual
    external
    and
    internal
    inspection
    and
    assessment
    of
    an
    economizer
    unit
    performed on February 25, 2022. The objective of the visual inspection and assessment
    is
    to
    determine
    the
    existing integrity of
    the economizer
    unit.
    The economizer unit was manufactured on July 13, 2013 by Cain Industries, Inc.
    The
    economizer is rated at 300 psi @ 600°F with a heating surface of 699 sq. ft.
    The
    economizer
    unit
    displays
    National
    Board
    No.
    1831
    and a
    Serial
    Number
    W/4922.
    The
    following
    are
    our
    observations
    and
    comments:
    INTERNAL
    The casing to the economizer fin tubes was removed prior to arrival for a visual
    inspection of the economizer fin tubes.
    Minor bends on the finned economizer
    tubes
    were
    noted;
    however,
    did
    not
    appear
    significant
    at
    this
    time.

    No sagging, bulging and/or metal deterioration of the economizer fin tubes were
    observed
    at
    the time of
    the
    inspection.

    The top exhaust to economizer unit was open for visual
    inspection
    of
    the
    economizer’s
    accessible
    internal
    supports
    and
    attachments.
    The
    economizer’s internal supports and attachments appeared to be in satisfactory
    condition.
    Minor staining was observed on the housing walls and floor, as viewed
    from the
    top
    manway.

    EXTERNAL
    The
    external
    casing
    appeared
    to
    be
    in
    satisfactory
    condition.
    No
    signs
    of
    distortion
    or
    deterioration
    were
    noted.

    No
    indication
    of
    wear
    was
    observed
    on
    the
    external
    housing
    of
    the
    economizer.
    Loose
    scale
    was noted
    in
    the inspection
    tee
    to the
    headers.

    RECOMMENDATION
    1.
    Proper
    blowdown
    of
    the
    headers,
    inlet
    and
    outlet
    should
    be
    performed
    before
    operation
    to remove loose scale.
